About a quarter of the women present at the Manitoba & Saskatchewan District convention June 10-13, where the theme was “The Healing Waters of Christ,” did something special for missions…they went walking. Each walker brought donations and others at the convention who did not walk also brought donations for a special WATER project, building wells in Africa through Canadian Lutheran World Relief. The original amount received grew to $7,621. A representative from CLWR spoke to the group, thanking them for the donation but also announcing that the government through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) will match the amount 3:1. The money will be enough to build about 15 wells…pure, fresh water in the community, not miles and miles away.
