Spirit of Christmas—preparing my hands, my heart and my home

Craft session

Crafting, fellowship and relaxation enjoyed by all.

Sixty-two women gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, B.C., on Saturday, November 6, for a one-day retreat of fun, fellowship and an opportunity to begin focusing on the Advent season.

The day began with a continental breakfast followed by a Bible study, Company’s Coming Soon! Are you ready?*, an Advent study helping us prepare for the arrival of our King.

Several women participated in the cookie exchange—what fun to share an assortment of yummy cookies, 26 varieties. A cookbook containing the recipes was available to all.

Crafting sessions followed with an opportunity to make a little gift box from used cards, a Christmas wreath from a CD or a personalized Christmas card.

Turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served; what a pleasure to enjoy the dinner without all the preparations and clean up! Our heartfelt appreciation to those who did the work.

Bible study and carol singing continued in the afternoon, followed by another crafting session of card-making, gift boxes, banners with crimson patterns and cinnamon-scented ornaments.

The day ended with tea and cookies, a door prize gift for all and warm feeling of love and fellowship. A relaxed day to help us prepare for the arrival of our Lord and Saviour.
