The mission, goals and resources of LWMLC, as well as information on our local missions and the prayer shawl ministry were on display in the narthex. The prayer shawl ministry began in September of 2008 with members and friends knitting or crocheting and praying for the recipients. Since that time over 130 shawls and lap robes, and two dozen bears representing the prayers and handwork have been handed out. A number of unstuffed bear shells have also been sent to an LWML group in Yuma, New Mexico to be used in their ministry. They stuff them and give them out either in Yuma or to a Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Members from Hope also knit many many beautiful toques and socks to support the mission of Union Gospel in downtown Vancouver.
