Theme for Fraser Valley zone’s spring renewal in April was BEING IN THE WORD and the Bible verse was: Psalm 130:5, “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I have put my hope.”
Reverend G. Wilch, zone counsellor, led a Bible study exploring being immersed in the Word. What is the meaning of being immersed in the Word? Why should we be immersed in the Word? What can we expect from being in the Word? How does God come to us in His Word? How can we apply being in the Word to our lives?
Rev. L. Hautz, pastor of Hope Lutheran in Port Coquitlam, B.C., the host church, led the worship service with Holy Communion. He preached a message based on the Word. Why abide in His word – to be a disciple, to know what is truth, to know the law and our sin. Hearing and knowing will set us free. Jesus’ Word and His payment on Calvary redeemed and set us free from God’s judgement of our sin.
A welcome to the 52 women present by host society president, Shirley Fast, greetings from district president, Pauline Huth and a brief business meeting rounded out the day. Two new members were elected to the advisory committee, Calva Haugen and Jacqueline Graugaard. Committees for the 2016 district convention were described and volunteers requested.
The day ended with an invitation from St Paul’s LWMLC to “Come to the Church in the Valley,” Chilliwack, for the Fall Rally. All returned to their homes, renewed, refreshed and delighted to share the day with their fellow Women in Christ.
