Service project inspires vicar

DIDSBURY, Alta. – Yesterday the church I am serving as vicar, Redeemer Lutheran Church, held their monthly LWMLC meeting. This month I was truly inspired by what they have accomplished, and I wanted to share what they did in hopes it will get others to do the same.

One of our missions is contributing to the support of newcomers to Canada, primarily those who come to Red Deer.  This year, for the month of October, we asked the congregation to donate personal care items as well as socks, notebooks, and pens. They were very generous and we were able to make up 21 welcome bags (like the Klenli Kits for CLWR used to be). Praise be to God!

Watching the ladies assemble the bags was heart-warming and spiritually uplifting for everyone involved. They worked tirelessly, knowing that the bags go directly to newcomers who need them badly. We hope that by welcoming new immigrants in this way the light of Christ’s love for us can be spread far and wide.
